Toronto Male Breast Reduction Specialist Dr. Peter Bray First Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon Using NEW BodyTITE Liposuction For Treatment Of Gynecomastia: NEW Male Breast Reduction Surgery In Toronto Offering Flatter Firmer More Masculine Chest Area Without Visible Signs Of Surgery
Male breast reduction (gynecomastia) surgery is one of the most popular cosmetic surgeries among men. It is the procedure that treats the dreaded “man boobs” (sometimes referred to as “man breasts” or “Moobs”).
Gynecomastia (large male breast) is quite a common condition and can be found in up to 40% – 60% of men at some point in their lives. With better technology and refined techniques more and more men are choosing to have male breast reduction surgery.
According to 2015 stats from the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) Male Breast Reduction was up 33 percent in 2014.
And the number of young males seeking breast reductions surged 14 percent which is more than any other cosmetic surgery procedure sought by teens according to ASAPS
Male Breast Reduction continues to be one of the most common procedures performed in Dr. Brays practice.
Gynecomastia is the medical name for excessive enlargement of the male breasts. This condition usually affects both breasts but sometimes only one side becomes enlarged. This condition often develops in younger males when they’re going through puberty, but as many as 30 percent of those who suffer from the condition are 20 years old and up. Gynecomastia itself does not pose any health risk to those affected, but can sometimes occur as a result of an underlying hormonal or medical problem. In addition certain drugs, both under-the-counter and over-the-counter can cause male breast enlargement. Dr. Bray will take a detailed medical history to rule-out these treatable causes of gynecomastia before recommending surgical treatment.
Unfortunately, many people have misconceptions as to the causes of gynecomastia, attributing it simply to weight gain, poor diet, lack of exercise or other lifestyle choices. This simplistic view fails to recognize the stubborn persistence of the problem despite the excellent physical condition of many sufferers. While it is certainly important for those with gynecomastia to strive for a stable, healthy, sustainable weight as a first step, these efforts are often insufficient to completely solve the problem. During your consultation Dr. Bray will perform a careful examination to help you determine what role, if any, weight loss or lifestyle modification would play prior to proceeding with surgery.
BodyTite liposuction is a great, new option for treatment of gynecomastia, creating a flatter, more masculine contour without leaving visible scars on the front of the chest. Traditional liposuction is generally only a partial solution for gynecomastia, failing to completely remove the tough, rubbery breast gland. In the past, therefore, surgeons had to make a large incision on the chest to remove this component, which made it obvious that a man had undergone surgery. The radio-frequency energy used during a BodyTite procedure helps to soften that glandular tissue such that Dr. Bray can remove it through a tiny, inconspicuous incision near the under-arm area. In addition, BodyTite Liposuction creates precise heating that results in much better skin-tightening. This feature is important with gynecomastia treatments because an enlarged breast can have stretched skin which is otherwise left behind after traditional removal techniques, resulting in unsightly folds and ripples.
Dr. Bray’s patients come from across Canada for gynecomastia (male breast) reduction surgery due to his exceptional results with BodyTITE Liposuction technology.
You should be in good health, a non-smoker and close to your ideal weight. You should have realistic expectations and goals. For teenagers it is generally best to wait until 18-20 years old when puberty has finished and the hormone levels have stabilized. There are however certain cases where it could be done earlier. All potential candidates will have a formal consultation with Dr. Bray to review individual concerns and health status.
Most men find the recovery process after BodyTite to be quite straightforward. The procedure is typically performed under general anesthesia but with patients heading home within a few hours after surgery. You will need to wear a compression vest for the first few weeks to minimize swelling. This garment is similar to the tight vest that cyclists wear and can be concealed under normal clothing.
You will likely experience some soreness or aching of the chest area but easily manage with regular pain medications.
You can resume light activities right away and expect to be back to work within several days. For optimal recovery, however, you will need to avoid heavy upper body activity for about 4-6 weeks. Dr. Bray will closely monitor your recovery and advise you individually on the appropriate return to normal activities.
The goal of the procedure is to reduce the fullness of the breasts, flatten the chest contour, and restore masculine proportions to the entire chest area.
Patients consistently say how much better clothes fit and they no longer have to figure out ways to hide their breasts. They feel much more confident and happy with their body image and often enjoy new-found freedom to engage in activities like swimming.
Yes, you can have additional areas contoured at the same time as a breast reduction. Stubborn trouble spots such as the love handles and abdomen are popular additions for many men. These latter areas respond very well to BodyTite treatment as do the NeckTite for neck liposuction and FaceTite for a mild facelift without major surgery. Read More

I cannot express how happy I am with Dr. Bray and am so glad I went with him to perform my surgery. I am a male, 48 years old, in great shape, 6 ft, 190 lbs work out regularly and I have or I should say I had “Man Boobs” or as the Doctor more politely calls it: Gynecomastia surgery or male breasts, (And I hated them) I hated the comments, especially as I dance and some of my female partners would say I had larger “Boobies” than them, Up until about 5 years ago, everything was fine, then my body began to change and my shirts got tighter, yet my weight hadn’t changed that much, I exercised more, I lost weight all that would do is make me look thin faced and my chest would just jiggle more when I danced or ran – As I said I hated them, I didn’t want to go swimming, take holidays or do anything that might mean I needed to take my shirt off in front of others.
Happily when I decided on Dr. Bray we also talked about some other minor issues that were of concern, (In for a penny, in for a pound I say), I figured as I wasn’t in real bad shape yet – that to do some additional minor work now would offset having to do larger more severe work done later, (minor work now – I felt meant less down time, I’m still young(ish) so i figured it’s an easier recovery on my system than waiting and doing it in another 10+ years all the while complaining about it and being unhappy with my body shape.
So I asked about my “muffin top” i.e. love handles and around my flanks which they all tie together and we did it. As I said I can’t tell you how happy I am with Dr. Bray. My waist has returned to a 33, I have a butt again, I love that my waist curves in, I love that my chest doesn’t pull all the buttons on my shirts, I can wear my fitted dress shirts again. Plus no one really knows, I am getting lots of compliments about how I have been working out, how all the exercise and eating right has paid off. (If they only knew…)
I had the surgery in late August and when I look at my before and after photos, I am thrilled more and more each time.
Before deciding on Dr. Bray, I had researched many Doctors in Toronto as well internationally (I opted not to use an international surgeon as I was concerned about not having access to post surgery after care – As this was very important to me knowing my Dr. was close at hand to answer any question and alleviate any anxieties I may have post surgery.)
I had been thinking about having the surgery for at least 3 years now, meeting with different Dr’s, researching them, Finally I saw Dr. Bray on CTV, talking about Man Boobs (my words not his) and a new treatment called BodyTite, (I had seen many male breast reduction surgeries on-line while researching and many of the previous procedures required that the nipple area be cut to remove the tissue – the new BodyTite procedure did not, (which meant to me – what I hoped would mean less nerve damage) Dr Bray also showed that as it removed the tissue, the process works to stimulate the skin to tighten as you heal so less sagging skin after the surgery. Another bonus in my eyes, less cutting, less scars, less sagging (less likely people will notice).
So here I am, 5 months after surgery, happier than I have been in years about my body, the time line in my healing has been fast, I owe this clearly to Dr Bray’s skill and technique, as well I believe that I chose to have the procedure done now while in good health, rather than waiting for the need to become greater and require more healing on my part. All and all, thank you Dr. Bray for bringing back my body the way I wanted it to be.
Any of you men who are thinking about this procedure, I would absolutely recommend Dr. Bray, he sits down with you, takes the time to answer your questions (and I had a lot of them), I can say, If you’re unhappy with your body today, you don’t get less unhappy the more years you wait to do something about it, I am so glad I did it now.
Paulette, Dr. Brays’ assistant (nurse) is fabulous at helping ease your concerns, booking your appointments, assuring you and if you are all concerned about your privacy ask her for a tour – the clinic is amazingly discrete, no one ever needs to see you come or go.
Thank you Dr. Bray for giving me my body back.
